2011 - Design in the air
FUGU started out as an idea that germinated in the minds of two young entrepreneurs in 2011: to develop a range of inflatable furniture that surfed on the trends of the 1960s. This dynamic era, when young people vilified the solid foundations of traditional constructions, considered as the mark of conservative values in opposition to nomadism, cursed the right angle considered as a constraint and cultivated the curve, symbol of all the libertarian virtues.
FUGU Furniture, by offering curved, sleek, trendy and made-to-measure furniture, develops an aesthetic of ephemerality, mobility and transparency that expresses a more open world.
2013 - Shift to events
In 2013, Thomas Hoffmann and Louis de Menthière turned to the events sector, which was looking for innovative concepts.
The first large-scale projects were born, but the two co-founders wanted to broaden their horizons, to see and create even more, while keeping the basic DNA of FUGU: nomadic, ephemeral, and unusual. Thanks to their experience in the event industry, they specialise in ephemeral structures and innovative architecture. The market has not evolved much for many years, lacking originality and aestheticism at a controlled budget.
2015 - From air to bubble
In 2015, they set up their first geodesic dome with the means at hand... The demand will only grow. They create a gateway to other innovative structures: Container Design, Gallery, WoodPod, Immersive Dome. They make up the FUGU Structures brochure.
The former start-up breaks the mould, placing FUGU halfway between the world of design and the world of events. The technical skills of the manufacturer are combined with the creation and project management of an event agency.
Fugu becomes multidisciplinary, bringing in grey matter and unusual experiences thought up by a "Swiss knives" team. It is a brand new offer that continues to seduce today.
2019 - From product to experience
The growth continues and galvanises the founders, who this time dream of wide open spaces and nature. They made a new observation: there is no hotel that combines the experiential aspect of a bivouac with the comfort of a palace. At the same time, a project leader met with them in 2019 and explained his desire to create a luxury hotel complex in the middle of the forest in Les Orres. The geodesic dome was then completely redesigned with a sustainable and ecological vision. Alpin D'Home opens in December 2019. FUGU Hospitality was born.
You don't change a winning team, you expand it! Sales people, graphic designers, editors, designers, entrepreneurs and communicators are joining the FUGU team and this is not going to stop!
